SUMMARY
Serves as Instructional Faculty in the Fordham Department of Religion, with special emphasis in urban ministerial practices and other areas of practical ministry. The ideal candidate will have broad competence not only in practical ministry, but also in theological and philosophical disciplines as important underpinnings of pastoral formation. The candidate should have a rich experience in fostering the best of Adventist biblical and theological scholarship and have demonstrated the commitment to the global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Other duties may be assigned.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Teaches courses in area of expertise, as well as general education courses.
  • Demonstrates and fosters excellence in teaching and service and values research and publishing.
  • Represents the University through participation in local field ministry.
  • Supports student recruitment as called upon by the University.
  • Supports and promotes the University’s mission, vision and values.
  • Supports a spirit of excellence in service.
  • Attends and contributes to the committee duties as per request of the University.
  • Attends convocations and other Department of Religion and WAU essential and required academic and extra-curricular events.
  • Promotes and nurtures spirituality in students, coworkers, and the University at large.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctoral degree required. Minimum of 5-10 years of teaching experience at the tertiary level preferably including SDA higher Education.
  • Relevant ministerial experience for the courses in the candidate’s area of expertise as well as pastoral ministry.
  • Serious and disciplined commitment to personal spiritual growth.
  • Strong sense of Seventh-day Adventist mission.
  • Clear understanding of the uniqueness of Christian education.
  • Ability to relate to culturally diverse situations and multi-ethnic students.
  • Ability to deal with various kinds of students and learning modalities.
  • Knowledge and use of technology and its applications for the classroom.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, regulatory agencies, or members of the academic community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to various audiences.

Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality.
  • Ability to solve problems.

Technology Skills:
  • Knowledge and use of computer and its applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
