POSITION SUMMARY
With primary focus on the Annual Fund, the Annual Fund & Alumni Relations Manager will play a key role in the expansion of the fundraising program and engagement of current students and alumni.  Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Annual Fund & Alumni Relations Manager will collaborate and partner with WAU leaders, key faculty and staff, to develop strategies, implement tactics, and identify & cultivate volunteers and donors to advance a culture of philanthropy among the university’s key constituencies.  The Manager will work to increase WAU’s Annual Fund through increased overall participation rate of WAU alumni in the Alumni Association.  He/She will oversee the activities of the Alumni Association, the alumni board of directors and key alumni events, such as reunion activities.
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Annual Fund:
  • Works with Executive Director of Development to set performance and giving goals for the annual fund (from WAU alumni, faculty, staff, businesses, parents, etc.) and strategies to achieve them
  • Collaborates with members of Advancement & Alumni Relations and Corporate Communications teams on annual fund solicitations to include: timing and nature of appeals, assisting with copy writing, working with outside vendors (as necessary), etc.
  • Conducts personal solicitations, as well as staffing Executive Director of Development and/or President to facilitate solicitations by them, where appropriate
  • Manage stewardship activities to assure regular contact with donors by President, Executive Director of Development, or other key individuals
  • Prepare written and oral presentations and reports as needed
 
Alumni Association:
  • Serves as liaison between the National Alumni Association and the university, also acting as liaison to the Alumni Association Board of Directors, committees and alumni groups beyond the WAU campus
  • Oversee Alumni Association to foster joint activities and maintain strong relationships through alumni engagement campaigns, working closely with alumni in planning activities and programs
  • Examine current alumni programs to identify and strengthen best strategies
  • Represent Alumni Relations and WAU to numerous constituencies in a variety of settings
  • Maintains communications with alumni, encouraging long-term relations
  • Prepare written and oral presentations and reports as needed
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required,
  • At least 2 years of development experience, preferably in higher education
  • Experience in planning and managing special events and fundraising activities
  • Experience in working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, plan, execute and evaluate programs
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously, with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Preference will be given to WAU Alumni
  • Ability to work extended hours, with some possible travel (minimum)
