 INTERNSHIP SUMMARY
Washington Adventist University (WAU) and the Office of Advancement and University Relations is looking for an intern interested in learning all aspects of the corporate communications and public relations field. The intern who fills this position should expect to learn the field from top to bottom. It's essential that applicants to this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.
 
Responsibilities
  • Create and manage social media content.
  • Help increase social media audience and engagement through followers, shares, likes and comments.
  • Researches and prepares reports on social media trends and best practices.   
  • Maintain and update all digital signage on campus.
  • Regularly review and maintain website content to ensure information is updated and accurate.
  • Develop content for the Weekly Bulletin and editing information for accuracy.  
  • Manage projects that require Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and take meeting minutes.
  • Manage Corporate Communications Director’s calendar as needed.
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Communications with various special projects.
     
Criteria for Selection
  • Must be enrolled as a WAU undergraduate student.
  • Must have a 2.7 GPA.
  • Background and/or experience in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, and Journalism preferred.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional oral communications skills
  • Solid knowledge base of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have the ability to work individually and with a team.
  • Must have the ability to engage people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
