PRIMARY DUTIES

 
SUMMARY
The Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships between Washington Adventist University, its donors, and its alumni. The Advancement and Alumni Relations Intern would assist with these essential public relations, marketing, event planning, and fundraising activities.        
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Explore creative ways to increase the Office’s visibility
  • Conduct relevant research for office projects, alumni, and donors
  • Assist in the creation of an alumni communication plan
  • Contribute to the development of marketing materials
  • Draft and proof general correspondence, content for alumni magazine, alumni newsletter, and website.
  • Maintain and expand the Office’s online presence on social media 
  • Schedule and attend meetings and events for alumni
  • Serve as the Office Receptionist
  • Data entry and other administrative duties as needed
  • Other responsibilities as they develop, based on intern interest areas and organization needs

  • That you will not use it as a place to entertain guest; or use the phone for you private phone calls; or use the office as your personal work space.             

QUALIFICATIONS

 
Qualifications
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated work style with high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and database management
  • Self-starter, flexible and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience with Donor Perfect, or fundraising software, a plus
  • Graphic design and layout skills a plus
 
Education and/or Experience   
  • Sophomore Student or Higher
  • Business Marketing, Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism Majors
  • Previous Office Experience required
