Primary Duties:
  • Before the first lab session of the semester, prepare a list of all chemicals and equipment that will be used during the entire semester.
  • Notify supervisor of necessary chemicals that need to be order at least three weeks before they are needed.
  • Prepare chemicals, reagents, and equipment for lab sessions in advance.
  • Have a quiz ready to give for each lab session covering that day’s experiment and be prepared to do the pre-lab session.
  • Actively oversee lab sessions by observing each student and being readily available for questions.
  • Enforce safety requirements during the lab period including the no visitor rule.
  • Sign student’s data sheets as they leave the lab.
  • Notify the instructor of any problems or concerns which develop in the course of the lab sessions.
  • Clear and clean all areas in the lab and stockroom that you’ve used as soon as possible.
  • Promptly grade and return students’ work (within two weeks of submission date).
  • Notify students who are missing work or doing poorly of their grade standing.
  • Determine grades for mid-term report and final grades.
  • Must be a currently-enrolled student.
  • Have taken Biology or Chemistry courses at WAU in a prior semester; preferably have successfully completed the course which assistance is required.
  • Have an overall GPA of at least 3.0
  • Have demonstrated good communication and leadership qualities in WAU Science courses.
