POSITION SUMMARY
The Alumni Relations and Annual Fund Manager is charged with the expansion of the annual fundraising program through the engagement of current students and alumni.  Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Alumni Relations and Annual Fund Manager will collaborate with colleagues in WAU’s administrative offices (including, but not limited to Admissions/Enrollment, Marketing/Communications, Student Life) to create and maintain pathways that advance the goals of the university, while increasing alumni engagement and giving.  As liaison to the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Manager will oversee the activities of the Alumni Association and key alumni events, such as reunion activities.
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Alumni Association:
  • Serves as liaison between the Alumni Association and the university, also acting as liaison for current and new alumni groups & committees beyond the WAU campus
  • Oversees Alumni Association to foster and build strong relationships through alumni engagement campaigns, working closely with alumni in planning activities and programs
  • Examines current alumni programs to identify, strengthen and implement best strategies for increased alumni participation
  • Maintains communications with alumni, encouraging long-term relations
  • Ensures data integrity of alumni information in the University’s database
  • Prepares written and oral presentations and reports as needed
 
Annual Fund:
  • Works with Executive Director of Development to annual and long-term goals for the annual fund (from WAU alumni, faculty, staff, businesses, parents, etc.) and strategies to achieve them
  • Collaborates with members of Advancement & Alumni Relations and Marketing/Communications team on general alumni communications and annual fund solicitations to include: timing and nature of appeals, assisting with copy writing, working with outside vendors (as necessary), etc.
  • Manages a portfolio of alumni prospects for annual giving, identifying those with potential and propensity for Major Giving
  • Manages alumni stewardship activities to assure regular contact with donors by President, Executive Director of Development, or other key individuals
  • Prepares written and oral presentations and reports as needed
 
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required,
  • At least 2 years of development experience, preferably in higher education, desired
  • Experience in planning and managing special events and fundraising activities; Experience also in working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, plan, execute and evaluate programs
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously, with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Preference will be given to WAU Alumni
  • Ability to work extended hours, including some weekend days, with some possible travel (minimum)
