POSITION SUMMARY
The employee is responsible for the successful coordination of office activities, supervision of student professionals, the day-to-day administrative operations of WAU Academics, and assisting in the preparation of reports and confidential correspondence for the Provost and department heads.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports academic leadership and chairs, as assigned, by managing projects, evaluating situations and/or issues and making recommendations as needed.
  • Produces information by transcribing minutes, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics.
  • Organizes work by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafts letters and documents; prepares reports by collecting and analyzing information acts as custodian for grant documents and records; collects and analyzes information; and initiates telecommunications.
  • Create administrative processes to support requirements such as annual program reports, faculty contracts, schedules, annual faculty performance reviews, etc. 
  • Assists in maintaining department appointment schedules by preparing calendars for departmental personnel; and arranges meetings, conferences, teleconferences, and travel.
  • Provides historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems; and records meeting discussions.
  • Plans and executes various events, including conferences, commencement-related activities and other events as assigned.
  • Assists in maintaining budgets, ordering supplies, making purchases, and managing financial requisitions of all equipment and materials.
  • Assists in designing and implementing marketing materials with primary responsibility for accuracy and enhancement of Academic web pages.
  • Maintains staff, faculty and student confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Manages academic space.
  • Supports and affirms a culture of distinctive excellence and exceptional service.
  • Attends University events and, required meetings (including weekly Convocation)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS  
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or university and at least two years related experience and/or training; OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
  • Superior command of English grammar and spelling. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as customer service skills.
  Mathematical and Technology Skills:
  • Working knowledge of and proficient application of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate computational skills.
  Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to deal with a variety of office situations. 
  • Applies logical or scientific methods to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
