JOB SUMMARY: As an HR Assistant Student, you will play a crucial supporting role in the Human Resources department, gaining valuable hands-on experience in various HR functions. This role is designed to provide you with practical exposure to HR processes, policies, and procedures while contributing to the overall efficiency of the HR team. You will work closely with HR professionals to learn and assist in administrative tasks, recruitment processes, employee relations, and other essential HR functions.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Front desk management (answering phone and email, greeting visitors, etc.)
- File employee paperwork and purge files according to instructions provided
- Assist with answering general questions from new hires
- Miscellaneous HR clerical tasks (ex. copying, basic word processing, scanning, etc.)
- Managing HR Assistant email
- Assist in onboarding process
- Processes PRAISE cards for each employee and their supervisor
- Maintains Office of Human Resources bulletin board and general supplies
- Assist in campus career fairs, benefits open enrollment, and campus events
- Checks to make sure all forms are up to date
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND CHARACTERISTICS:
- Must be currently enrolled at Washington Adventist University as a full-time student
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly and effectively convey information.
- Must be adept at using various software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Maintains a professional and courteous attitude in all interactions, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to take initiative and work independently, solving problems and finding solutions without constant guidance.
- Must be resourceful and proactive.
- Ability to stay motivated with routine work
- Strong organizational skills
- High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks and documentation.
- Understands and upholds the importance of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
