ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains, and repairs equipment, systems, and facilities related to any craft or combination of same, using power and hand tools, ladders and other necessary equipment
Performs a variety of unskilled work in various crafts such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, electrical work, sheet metal work, masonry, machinist work, etc.
Maintains shops, mechanical spaces, public and student areas, etc., in a clean, safe manner
Performs a variety of building services duties
Responds to emergency problems in the facility and makes emergency repairs as needed
Maintains logs, performs rounds, complete P.M. work orders, tests, and inspections
Operates tractors, grounds equipment, and motor vehicles (if cleared by Transportation)
Assists in removing snow/ice from facility’s grounds and maintains grounds
Performs related and other departmental duties as required
Works toward becoming a Maintenance Technician I through individual study and on the job training
Abides by Department Safety Practices

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be a WAU student.
Ability to use ruler and fractions, read blueprints or model to learn work layout or plans own work layout.
Ability to diagnose and solve technical and mechanical problems.
Ability to meet the physical demands to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs, ladders and equipment, and a good sense of balance to work on heights is required. Some lifting of medium and heavy materials, equipment and tools is required.
The employee will frequently be called upon and must be able to work long hours under stressful conditions, including weekends and nights.
