SUMMARY
As a student worker in the history department, it is expected that you will support the department’s goals. Your overall role is to assist the members of the department in the smooth functioning of the department. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Keeping the Bulletin Boards up to date and neat
  • Tutoring students who might need help
  • Grading students work as assigned
  • Typing material for the department
  • Filing material for the department
  • Running a variety of errands for the department -
  • Assisting in setting up for departmental functions when necessary
  • Keeping the office area neat and tidy at all times
  • Answering the telephone –History and Political Studies Department
  • Taking and delivering messages for the faculty in the department
  • Keeping the faculty up to date on any issues that will enhance the students’
  • Informing the department of any issues that might arise.
  • Typing materials assigned and make necessary photo copies on copy equipment 
  • Being cordial to students, faculty, staff and visitors entering the office
  • Performing other tasks as may be assigned by supervisor
  • Being able to use Microsoft Office
Expectations of the work place are that you will:
  •  Arrive at the designated times for work dressed appropriately
  •  Perform tasks in a timely manner
  • Not use it as a place to entertain guests; or use the phone for your private phone calls; or use the office as your personal work space.
  • Smile and be productive in your work
  • Academically excel to maintain your employment
  • Report to assigned supervisor at scheduled work times
  • Clock in/out with Time Card Program
You may use the computer for your own work in case of emergency. 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a currently enrolled WAU student
  • Must be enrolled as a History or Political Student
  • GPA of 3.0 of higher
  • Be able to work during business hours (not evening work)
