•             The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Washington Adventist University is seeking a qualified candidate with experience teaching undergraduate Fundamentals of General, Organic and Biochemistry course with the associated laboratory. The course schedule can be flexible, but it usually meets 2 times a week (80 min each lecture) and the associated lab meets once a week for 3 hours in the early afternoon.
•             Applicants submitting applications are applying for a non-tenure, part-time position but with significant input in course design. This appointment may be renewed upon satisfactory review and need.
•             Applicants who meet the required qualifications will be selected for an interview. The decisions to hire an applicant is made at the discretion of the department.


PRIMARY DUTIES
•             Teach Fundamentals of General, Organic and Biochemistry lectures and associated laboratory for nursing majors and non-science students.
•             Teach pertinent course content using lectures, labs, demonstrations, class discussion, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery that promote educational and learning processes.
•             Hold three office hours per week (negotiable).
•             Prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course, and lesson plans, and engage in the selection of textbook and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of courses.
•             Engage and assist students by providing notes, timely grades, and feedback via a Learning Management System (LMS).
•             Supervise the use and keep proper maintenance of laboratories instruments and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
•             MS or Ph.D. degree in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry or/and Biochemistry, Chemical Sciences, or a related field from an accredited university.
•             Prior college or university teaching experience preferred.
•             Ability to integrate technology into course delivery and practical life applications.
•             Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population of students both in and outside the classroom via a Learning Management System platform (Desire2Learn, D2L).
•             Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•             Knowledge of, and commitment to, the university’s philosophy and mission.
